The city of Montreal and the office of smart and digital city wanted to acquire a deep understanding of the open source software before presenting a free software adoption process to the new mayor.

The project’s objectives were to map the major technological choices currently used by the city of Montreal, to provide a methodology based on a multi-criteria analysis, to identify opportunities for new uses and to define a strategic approach to the use of free software.
