Why educational institutions must have their own online learning management system (LMS)
E-learning has increasingly become important and urgent in the digital transformation process in Vietnam. Various kinds of Learning Management Systems which have been widely used at universities all over the world support educators to innovate their ways of teaching to make lessons more attractive to students as well as improve the learning environment.
1. Building on-demand course
Moodle LMS allows educators to build online courses specific to their needs to train any audience, anytime, anywhere. Moodle LMS system allows educational institutions to create their own learning environment with defined goals, learning routes and better learning content.
For example, whether you wish to build a course in communicative English or a course specializing in IELTS exam preparation, an online learning and training management system allows you to customize interfaces as well as activities specific to your own needs.
2. Student management
Student management seems to be a big challenge for educational institutions, especially for online classes because teachers and students might have limited opportunity to interact directly with each other. Moodle LMS provides more diversified and specialized applications to support teachers in organizing and managing online classes through thousands of plugins such as attendance, report, assignment, etc.
Moodle LMS provides users with in-depth data infrastructure, visualisations and reporting functions for their LMS. In particular, Moodle LMS is now available as a mobile app so teachers can track their students’ learning progress quickly.
3. Track and manage data sources
Data plays a key role in successful eLearning implementation. Because through the report on the database, students can completely track and evaluate the learning progress and results, and the educational institution can also manage the quality of teaching, thereby identifying useful methods to improve students’ learning experience.
In addition, the learning materials and question banks are also securely stored on the platform, which helps planning and making lessons more convenient than previous traditional methods.
4. Examine and submit homework online with many built-in plugins such as recording, video recording, …
Learning by doing, in addition to acquiring knowledge in class, testing and doing homework is an important and crucial activity after classes. Before starting a training program, it is necessary that the teacher should examine the student level to determine their qualifications, as well as their lack of knowledge and decide additional methods in the course, thereby adjusting the most suitable study program. After deciding a reasonable learning route, we can track the student’s learning progress based on periodic assessment tests.
In addition, exercises on Moodle LMS are also designed with more diversified benefits than the previous traditional learning methods. Students can submit exercise files in various formats and formats such as videos, photos, and audio recordings.
There are 2 main types of exercises / tests on Moodle LMS:
1. Assignment form: This is an assignment form that can be a piece of text, or a word, pdf file
2. Multiple choice exercises (Quiz). There are different types of multiple choice questions:
+ Multiple choice
+ True / False (True / false)
+ Short Answer (Short answer)
+ Select missing words (Select missing words)
+ Matching (Matching)
5. Online classes are not limited to the number of students
In the digital era, E-learning has become increasingly popular. E-learning also helps teachers and students to have more interaction through online classes. If an educational institution builds their own customized LMS, they are able to provide free online classes with unlimited number of students and time spent on the learning platform. This is indeed a great advantage of Moodle LMS.
